  • Another X install

Been running on vegi for a little while now, Figured I'd put my Excursion install on the DFA forums for reference.

I did my tank a little different since I didn't want to poke a 2"+ hole in the frame.

    Sorry for the cross link
Got my DFA stuff from Brown today :-). Taking a short break and figured I'd report my progress so far. This won't be a full install thread (I think Marv did a great job on the 6.0 already), rather focus more on the 6.0 Excursion. So far I did everything as Marv said in his thread here...

Oops - Just noticed the X has it's own section.

feel free to move this over there.

        Wilson,

So was the filler port you added to the top of the tank a 1"? Did you cut off the original filler port flush with the wall of the tank or cover it some other way?

        thanks!

          1 1/4" OD.... and about 1 1/8" ID.

The OD will depend on the ID size hose you use. Depending on fill rate (GPM of your pump) it may not be enough diameter, so 2" is better but not needed.

My pump is like 18GPM and it will back up on me after about 30 sec of wide open pumping... I just back off the pump speed a little :-)

The original 2" fill port I cut about flush with tank wall and TIG'd a plate over it.

So, Wilson, just to confirm, did you add the new filler fitting on the tank on the top or on the side? Any pics of the filler hose routing past the spring into the tank? I'm hoping to do this type of install as well, but am wondering about the hose routing....

            thanks!

              yep here are some pics.

This is from the fill neck in stock location

This is the view looking towards the tank from under the back. You can crawl under your truck and see the rubber suspension stop in my pic.

The fill hose routes up and over the frame then onto my fill port.

EDIT- go to link at top of this thread and see the pics in full size.
