  • Little vid from the track

Please excuse my camera man. he sucks.

Instead of taping my awesome burnout, he decided to record my window and lock switches.

    lol.

I put her up on the smoke tune for the burnout... and forgot to set it back to 120 race for the run. Realized it after I launched, got out of it, but wasn't going to change the tune mid run, so I got back into it. Being on my smoke tune the EGTs shot up to 1300 in a hurry so I had to take it easy for the rest of the run.

Oh well. Truck sounds great though.

Now... at a real racing event they wouldn't dare allow a passenger, let alone a truck full of drunks (not me of course). BUT this is Western NY's Largest Cruise Night every Wednesday. You can see some of the cars in the background. There are a couple thousand bikes and about as many cars every week. It used to be in an abandoned mall parking lot where they would hold the show, a bass off, and a burnout pit.

Now they moved it to the local 1/8th mile dragstrip/circle track. Attendance is way up and it is 10 minutes from my house. They also included Grudge Racing. $5 per car per race. They race from 5-6pm until 1-2am. Anyone can race anything. We have big trucks, little trucks, every kind of car, and every kind of bike. My bike smoke show was from the previous week. They race sleds, 4 wheelers, mini-bikes... anyone with $5 can race.

I don't know what it ran, probably somewhere in the 11s. If I stayed on the throttle I could probably see mid to low 10s.

Which is pretty slow. If I only could have just hit the button on my tuner and laid waste to him... oh well. Next year.

              I think it is fair.

The race before that I beat a newer Eclipse GT as well as a newer V6 Mustang. They have to be in that area... My Talon TSI ran 9.0s all day. That car was quicker than the other 2 I beat but not by much, and my truck is only slightly faster than those 2 but slower than the Talon. I'd say with a boosted 4x4 launch I could see mid 10s and low 10s if the tranny cooperated. I've been racing at the track since I've had my license, I'm a pretty good judge of how quick something is. My stang was good for low 8s my VR4 was a [email protected] car... but I couldn't get a decent 1/8th mile time because I smoked the clutch the only pass I had. The bike runs low, low 7s but is capable of 6s maybe mid 6s with a decent launch.

I know I'm making a little power... and I have traction. I'm losing about 1/2 of it in the tranny and the other half in tires, so I'm surprised it moves at all honestly. 8k lbs at all times doesn't help either.

What were you expecting? I think I ran somewhere in the 11s that pass but I'm not sure. Similar trucks are needing over 400hp to see 9s, and about 430hp to see low 9s.

              These trucks aren't fast...

I really..... really hope he doesn't think I was referring to 1/4mi. I mean... that race was over in a couple seconds... so I have video evidence of how quick it is :chuckles:

I may not be an oil boy from way back... but I know a thing or 2 about racing.

If ya want to drop those times, get a mico lock for the front brakes and make those tire scream for mercy(my dodge had one off an old wrecker, nothing could take me at the stoplights).2200 rpm lauch in a high horse first gen cummins was a little intimadating......for others, then they saw the 5 inch exhaust and pair of 3 inch ss nuts hanging evade them very quickly..........

lol... I had no idea what you were thinking... just taking about racing gets me excited.

Clay, you better head to the track and see what she runs... before I cover your truck in soot.

I really don't need a line lock. The brakes hold the truck more than they have to. The ass end is light enough to just spin the tires anyway. I really only did the burnout for the crowd... no reason to do one on a swamper... ever.

As far as launching in 4WD... I'm not really prepared to do that. too much can go wrong too fast.

I know she will do better than a 10 in the 1/8 th mile Maybe an 8.5 and in a 1/4 mile, 13.5-14 would be my guess - i know a little about racing too.
And if i don't launch in 4x4, my time would be double cause i would sit at the line for 10 seconds burning up rubber.
                            A 7.3 with tuner against a 6.0 with tunes....not a chance Jack
Assuming thats all you got. Now if you had a bigger turbo, injectors, and big oil...you would be a threat for sure but with only a tune, it just can't happen unless i really suck at the line.

I rolled with a 6.0 With a 6-gun and all supporting mods. He didn't pull until late 2nd gear. I expected a lot more from him.

Get'er to the track Clay... I just wanna know how fast it is... lol.
