  • Gun owners...what's in your collection?

With all the recent talk of guns, I've decided I might jump on the bus and pick up a new one. Been eyeballing a new Bushmaster Optics Ready Carbine M4. I've been wanting one of these for a while, just never got around to picking it up. With the upcoming change of administration, and no telling what'll happen to gun laws, I figure now is as good as time as ever. In six months, they'll probably be much harder to get and more expensive.

Here's a link to what I'm referring to:

    http://academy.com/index.php?page=co...345-00329-6686

    Another from the Bushmaster site:

    http://www.bushmaster.com/catalog_xm...VMF16M4ORC.asp

Primary purpose of this will be occasional target shooting and home defense. The above has the flat top receiver, so I'll likely stick a low powered scope on it as well as a Red Dot. I'll also likely change out the hand guard for a Picatinny rail setup and mount me a small LED flashlight and laser pointer. The collapsible stock and short barrel should make this a fun, lightweight, manueverable piece to play with.

Not to mention, it'll look cool too!

If I happen across a pic of something similar, I'll post it up.

Anyways, got me to wondering what some of the other folks on here had in their collection.

Anybody spend way more money than they should on firearms? Tell us what you got!

Bang for your buck, you can't beat an SKS. Ammo is reasonable and they look tets pimped out!

Just sold the SKS with 1500 rounds, sold the Tommy Gun with barrel and 4 banana clips.

I have an antique .22 in the basement my grandma used when she was in some NYS Tournament where she won as the best left handed female shooter in the state. I don't know the details, just the story.

All the shottys and pistols are at the old man's house, I don't have a permit... Erie County has the worst pistol permit regulations in the country. I won't have a permit until I move out of the county.

i personally don't see what good a gun like that is Marv...not good at all for home defense unless your perched on the roof shooting them before the get there or as they run away - either case your screwed if you shoot em.
Not a good hunting weapon either...
Home defense gets no better than a pump shotgun...That rifle could kill the neighbor if you missed your target, a shotgun won't and the sound of a pump shotgun in the dark will make a burglar shit his pants and run like a raped date. No need to even fir it, just pump it...everyone knows that sound. But keep it loaded with some 00 buckshot just in case you need to fire it.
I use a 12 guage and a 16 guage for home defense as well as a 260 rem, 44 mag, a 380 auto, a 30-30 and 2-22s - all placed strategically throughout the house. I have no neighbors to worry about though.

Oh let's see. Good ol' 30-30 marlin deer rifle, 20ga. single break, 2 12ga. pumps, 12ga. semi, 16ga. pump, .22 semi, 2 .22 revolvers, .50cal TC Encore muzzleloader, and of course for plinking and uninvited guests .223 Kel-Tec SU-16 rifle with 3 30rd mags (Iraq M-16 veterans from marine buddy), 4 10rd mags and 1500rds of ammo stashed away at all times.

Permits What the hell is a permit Jack? No such thing here in VT. Of course that may change in the near future. Which means I need to get myself a Kel-Tec 9mm while I still can without signing my name to it.

Well, it won't be my primary home defense weapon...I have the Remington 870 for that...and yeah, I agree, the sound of a shotgun is usually all it takes.

                      And I don't hunt...never been into that.

I figure if I catch them in the house, I can either scare the mmm out of them with the shotgun, or I can put the laser in the center of their forehead and let them figure out what's going on.

Plus, they're fun guns to shoot...great for plinking and general range use.

I have a S&W .40 Sigma, Colt Python .357 Magnum, a S&W .22 revolver, a Ruger .22 scoped semi auto rifle, a Benelli 12 guage pump and a Winchester 12 guage pump, and a Winchester 30-06. I live with my brother and another roommate-I bet we have about 20 guns in the house! I'd feel bad for anybody who tried coming in our house uninvited!

I can vouch for the Kel-Tec. Mine is probably more neglected than it should be, but it still goes BOOM everytime I pull the trigger.

Bio, how do you like the Benelli? I've never owned or shot one, but my old college roommate had one and he swore by them. They sure look like nice pieces.

Definately fun to shoot but i personally couldn't afford the ammo that thing will eat up. I bought ammo Fri. to do some target practice with and HOLY CRIPES that shit was higher than a cats back! 28 bucks for 20 rounds of 260 rem. 140 gr. core lock. My scope needed to be dialed in and luckily i did it in about 10 rounds and quit. Then i shot the 22 a bunch...fun and cheap entertainment right there.
