ooh, a political thread...i wondered how long it would be before this poped up.
These tend to be very volatile type discussions so keep it within the CoC.

Haha...yeah, I was waiting for one to pop up on here. Almost posted one or two myself, but I restrained.

I think we all can tell the tone of this one already though...lol.

Ah man its cool, heck i love me a good political debate but the fact is i suggested to the powers that be to create a political topic section and the idea was dismissed as fast as it was brought up. So as long as we can talk nice about politics, its not an issue...its hard to talk nice sometimes though

I'm curious why so many Powerstroke owners are Republican supporters-especially on this site...McCain's motto is "Drill, Drill, Drill" as far as energy goes, but here we all are using alternative energy to power our trucks. Obama supports us and the use of biofuels, and McCain doesn't. Let me know what you think.

I don't vote because I think politics are a joke so nothing I say has any relevance of me being in one party or another.

I'm using WVO because it is cheaper than diesel. It is not nearly as convenient or as easy to maintain. If we drilled here, I wouldn't need WVO. Would I keep burning it in the truck? Probably, as long as it was cheaper.

I will keep it friendly, but you are off on your summary of the John McCain ticket. Read up on the Lexington Project...

What Mccain is saying(and is in fact just a small piece of the energy independence puzzle) is drill where we KNOW we have oil.

The first step to becoming the powerhouse we were is energy independence. Our own supply of oil (xx%US and xx% Canada and other ally nations) will stop the flow of YOURS and MINE $$ to the arab countries that target us.

And if you listened to McCain he is also for Nuclear, clean coal, wind and other alt power for our homeland...

As far as what we choose to burn as vegistrokers, I will be first to admit I bought mine due to the A$$ raping I was getting at the pump, environment secondly.

I suppose you and the majority of DFA customers do it for the environment first? WRONG

But alas- let's keep subsidizing ethanol (that's a great government program, right?)

politics are a joke. And forget about the parties... Just listen to each candidate and vote on ideals that match yours as closely as possible.

but you should vote. You ARE going to be part of the minority in this country in less years than you might think.

Hell, my wife will likely vote opposite me. So we both stay home?

I plea with my wife to stay home. Her vote will not help... and if you're not a part of the solution, you're a part of the problem. That makes her a part of the problem.

I have to say 99.9% of the people who vote are completely uneducated on the subject. They do not understand America at all. They do not understand policy and procedure... they do not understand the country's needs... they don't understand anything other than what NBC, CNN or FOX have to say about the candidates.

This is how I think voting should go down. (This is not a joke, it is truly how I feel. It is from an e-mail I wrote in response to an MP3 I received. The MP3 had interviews with Obama supporters. They knew nothing. You could tell by just the sound that everyone interviewed was black, and uneducated, but they were going to vote Obama. They loved his VP Palin. They loved his views on ... fill in the blank (that was filled in with McCain's views) ... and it was scary that these people are allowed to vote... and that their vote counted as much as someone with a clue.)

                        SCAN-TRON

Basically if you hand voters a questionnaire which contains all of the points made by either candidate, or several candidates... and make it a blind election.... the person in office would be voted in based on policy... and strictly policy. Strictly FACT and you would save MILLIONS and MILLIONS of dollars by avoiding the advertisements and bash campaigns.

                        1. Would you like your next President to be:
                        a. Pro Life
                        b. Pro Choice
                        c. Not a federal concern

                        2. Would you like to see our troops:
                        a. Come Home Now!
                        b. Stay until the job is done.
                        c. Bomb those bastards and then come home.

                        3. Would you like your new President to be:
                        a. White
                        b. Black
                        c. Native American

I know... #3 was horrible, but true. Race will play a larger role this year than any year in American History.

But... the first 2 were realistic. Voters should have to take a test. In-between each Presidential candidate question would be a world history/economic/math question... their score on those questions would determine the weight of their vote. If you don't bring a pencil, you don't get to vote. If you are unemployed and never served in the armed forces, you don't get to vote.

It is a very simple plan... easy to distribute, and easy to understand.

                        Minority -
Become a MINORITY?!?!? I'm a working white man. I AM THE MINORITY!!! I can't wait for working white males to be identified as a minority... then I get to reap all of the benefits of special treatment. I'll be able to afford to go back to school... because IT WILL BE PAID FOR. I won't have to work on bettering myself to get a good job... THEY WILL HAVE TO HIRE ME.

I got to agree with you Jack on a number of those points. Too many folks won't take the time to become educated on the the issues. They blindly follow the media, family and friends.

As they say, ignorance truly must be bliss. I think laziness plays a huge role in it as well: laziness = lack of education = ignorance = bad choices = bad consequences.

                              Anyways...just my $0.02.
