  • Having issues with purge

I have a strange issue with my purge. 1st of all, I am running a V1 upgraded to V2 kit.

I started noticing this issue last winter. The system has been running fine except for when I re-start my truck after it has been turned off for a short period of time. I turn the truck off in auto mode. The system goes through the normal purge cycle like it should and shuts off after 1 minute. When I restart the truck anfter it has been shut off for a short period of time, the system starts back up in purge mode. My pressure gage is showing about 20psi (purging) and I hear the engine knocking due to low fuel pressure so it is a confirmed purge and not just low fuel pressure. The only way I can get it to stop purging is put it in manual mode.

I initially thought the purge was stuck open due to I run a some partially hydrogenated oil. However, my last 2 tanks of oil have been new canola oil and the air temp has been in the 60's in North Carolina.

This doesn't happen everytime I restart. When it happens, it only happens when it is a quick restart (has not been sitting for a long period of time). I have tried holding in the purge button and it will not stop. I switch it from manual to auto and the purge stops as soon as I switch to manual and it will continue to purge if I immediately switch it back to auto. After a while, I will switch back to auto and everything is fine

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Don't know if V2 is different than V3 but I would check my timer card and make sure the purge time didn't somehow get turned way up. Confirm that red light is only on for 10-12 seconds on purge card after turning off in auto.

Thanks for the hint. I already checked it and it seems to be working fine. This doesn't happen everytime so I guess the card could be acting up intermitently.

I will keep an eye on the card.

What part of NC are you in? If you're close I could help you troubleshoot it hands on.

This was my first thought as well...but if you checked that then i'm not sure what else to look for...this is a new one i have not heard of.

I live in Sanford (about 30 miles south of Raleigh)

It could possibly be an intermitent issue the timer card. It only happens 1 or 2 times a month.

I'm in Hillsborough, (about 30 miles west of Raleigh). If you ever get over this way I could help you test things out, I have a 1600sq/ft shop out back and do all my conversions there.

Powerg, my V-2 temp sensor is still under the hood at the gooseneck housing. I had a full tank of veg and was driving my EX when I noticed I was leaving huge puddles of diesel at every intersection. If I am not up to 100% temp the purge relay clicks continuously and returns diesel to the tank. The cure was a new purge solnoid from Jason, and not turning the system from off to auto until full temp is reached. Some day I wil relocate the temp switch to the V2. EX.
