  • Transmission Problems

I forgot to count the flashes on the OD light, but it was over 27 at the stop light... so maybe it was just going to flash continuously.

Basically I got on it a little from a red light with a friend of mine. He was in front of me at the light, but he drives a Chevy, so I had to get out of the throttle before I rearended him. When I got out of it, it wanted to go into 2nd, but didn't. Gave it some pedal and it just revved up. Neutral like. Out of it again and then on it. There is 2nd. And 3rd and OD. At this point the light is flashing. I shut the truck off and checked the fluid. Not for level, the truck would have to be running for that, but to see if it was burnt. It wasn't expecially burnt...

So now, it doesn't want to go 1-2 but 2-3-OD is "normal".

If I'm light on the pedal it will go 1-2 but only after I rev the crap out of 1st and back out of it just a hair. I haven't gone WOT in 1st to see if it would shift @ 3k or not, and I don't plan on it.

There is now a whine coming from the tranny. It very clearly is related to speed... and doesn't seem to be RPM.

AMEN! This will become your favorite 'mod'. I'm jealous. Just hoping my switch to BTS remains 'planned'.... (just a couple more months - if I'm still working!!)

        K. I was hoping the first 2 responses would be along those lines. Now the wife won't think I'm blowing smoke.

Is Brian's the best place to go? I could probably drive there to get serviced, would that be the best way?

Why not, if it will make it, its not like you can hurt it anymore

I just realized they are in AR... not PA. Which tranny place is in PA? maybe it was ATS. I wouldn't be driving it 17 hours... no fricken way. That'd be a hell of a towing bill if I didn't make it. I don't know if I could deal with the noise that it is making that long.

                  They aren't cheap.
If I recall though, Brian will also tune the tranny to your truck, using an SCT Tuner, if I recall correctly. That may be someone else.

I'd have to ship back my core too, I think. Maybe I'll just pay my dad to drive out there.

I'm going to call him this afternoon and see what he says. I might just need a TC and/or a valve body.

I would stay away from ATS, never heard anything good. But ya- BTS is on my list for sure someday.

Good luck Jack, I hope it turns out well for you. I'd hate to think of buying a new trans for mine...that thing would be parked for a while...haha!

Guess sometimes you just don't have a choice though.

Dude go with bts. The last transmissions you will buy is the saying.

There are very few others out there that will go good for a broken tranny that had 600hp+ infront of it while doing burn outs drags and pulls.

I'm on my 3rd non BTSI feel so dumb. Hey I can change out a transmission in under 4 hrs. Bet I could smoke that time in halve with a truck lift, extra hand and proper tools!

don't quote me but seems like i heard a figure of about $4k...plus or minus a hundred. But the quality is by far superior to anything i have heard of.
I have no real world experience with BTS but heard nothing but positive about it.

And I have a 3" body lift... you can see and touch every bolt I believe.

The hard part is getting the tranny down... its about 2 feet off the ground. lol.
