  • Wife + Grease like Oil and Water(sometimes)

The word "WIFE" seems to be a reoccuring theme in the greasers world....myself included. I can handle the occasional grease slick and tinkering to work out the kinks. It seems the urgency to fix the ick usually is driven from our better half (again myself included). This is probably my fault for not disclosing the potential and likely instance that this hobby will at times create a mess. There should be a support group thread on this forum so that when a guy feels he is getting heat for his greasy hobby he can hear from, in my best guess, half of the other guys in this forum that have heard the same thing. Just lay low fellas for when diesel goes back up and you buy your wifey something nice and say " I bought you this with all the money I have been saving at the pump"

Feel free to chime in here right or wrong.

My wife is much more tolerant now that she's greasin'!!

The focus has shifted from the amount of time I spend tinkering to "I'm almost out oil (and/or B100), ya better get some ready before I run out!" I am pleased she doesn't like going to the gas station and I think the kids have already forgotten what that was like!!

I've had the pleasure of meeting greasers all over the country and I often tell the wives they are not alone - there are 'others' as crazy as their husband, including myself. Somehow, I'm not sure that always helps... Maybe a spouse support group is a good idea!

I guess it's like I said in the "Fuel Pressure..." thread...

I guess I'm lucky in terms of having a wife that doesn't gripe or nag at me for taking on hobbies like this. Heck, she's even let me keep my oil in the house to keep it warm. Not to mention several times where I've had the whole top half of the engine in my Camaro tore apart and stored in the house (unfortunately, I'm sans garage right now) - with the smell of gas, grease and oil filling the house. She never thinks anything of it...and just knows that eventually I'll get it all back together and working correctly...lol.

As long as she gets to go shopping occasionally and a few decent dinners a month, she's good to go. Now I do get pressure to get her a new car, but nothing major. I'll admit though, it's her turn to have the new ride - I've only bought two trucks (one traded in on my PSD) and a car since we've gotten married. Ooops...

She thought I was crazy when "we" bought the kit.
          Now she knows I'm crazy.

2 drums of grease in the kitchen ... 1 on the dolly still.

Always showing someone the kit... and letting them smell the exhaust
