Ok, for those who don't know, Bob has been developing products for PSD's for many years now. His CAC boots, boost 'fooler', 203* t-stat and billet housing, etc are all but legendary in the industry. Well, I've been drooling over his single-pump 'Big Oil' solution(s) since he first mentioned it. He FINALLY has them available and even a $500 option (Adrenaline) that blows away stock pump for similar money to OE replacement!!! (it would be downright FOOLISH to replace a broken HPOP w/anything else!!!!!)Now, he's got this overdrive unit to boost ANY HPOP's performance to the moon!
So, I would already have the Adrenaline pump in my F350, but this little 'break' in gainful employment I just took caused me to hold off. NOW, he has this Overdrive unit about ready to come out and me thinks it may be the right solution for this truck. The Excursion will still get the Pulse hpop, since it will have over 200k miles on stock pump AND it will ultimately have ALOT more power than the F350... (the F350 hpop was replaced last year)
Why do we want/need a high performance HPOP? Simple - higher injection pressure equals better atomization of fuel through injectors. The way this injection system works, the injection pressure increases with RPM's. A higher volume (or 'overdriven') pump will allow higher injection pressures at lower RPM's - especially with programming (DP-Tuner) that capitalizes on the added potential. Not only that, the stock HPOP is barely capable of supplying adequate volume to a stock truck at high rpm's, much less one with bigger injectors and custom programming - (Bob explains all this much better than I can). Being a skeptic, I added a HPO pressure gauge in my truck to 'see' if all this was true. I am now 100% a believer...
I don't know what Bob will come up with next to take my money away, but I can't wait!!! :chuckles:
PSD Mod Syndrome? Nahhh. Listen, I'm not addicted, I can stop anytime I want!
