  • Light bulb replacement for switch

    Hey guys,

have anyone replaced the bulb(s) in their rocker switch?

The 'auto/lower' bulb burned out a while ago, i took the switch out today to get it replaced (both of them) but i cant seem to know how to pry it open to replace it and dont want to break it..

    any ideas?

Well, thinkered with it and got the switch appart, very intersting..

Removed the switch from the switch housing were botsh switches are housed in.

Separated the upper part of the switch from the lower part by prying open two tabs, one on each side.

Each bulb is also holded down by tabs.

Now, the light bulbs have very, very long wire legs that wrap around the inside the switch. (imagine minituarized hard fuel lines)

i either have to find same long wire leg bulbs and follow the same contour or ger regular bulbs and solder the existing legs to the new bulb.. .

i'll post pics later on in case anyone needs to do this..

by the way. how much is the switch?? hehe

I'll see if i can retrofit leds into it.

I think I paid $10 for a new switch at a local boat shop.

I would contact John at DFA and order a new switch. I don't think it would cost that much.

Do the bulbs have any numbers on them?

I agree, with Triple, might just be easier to order an updated one from DFA.

If your bulb burnt out then its obviously the incandescent style. If your under warranty then just give us a call and we will get that fixed. If your not..... well then you had better sit down because the Hi Bright Green led switches that we get will set you back a whole 14 smackers, and if your really nice on the phone I just might package it in a way so that it doesn't arrive broken!
