  • Insulating filters, Armaflex, and Filter removal

I used a little bit of the Armaflex wrap that came with the kit to insulate my Donaldson for the winter. Worked out great. Only took a small amount to insulate the area not covered by the heater band. Sticks well and conforms to the curve of the filter at the top. An added benefit that I didn't anticipate was that it made it extremely easy to remove the filter without a wrench. You can really get a grip on the Armaflex and torque that Donaldson off without even grunting. Could really be handy if you ever run into a roadside filter change without a wrench. - Patrick

That's really not a bad idea Patrick...never considered doing that. Wonder how much more heat it helps the filter retain....hmm.

I might have to throw a roll of that in the toolbox just to have on hand in case I never need to change one on the road.

That reminds me I need to finish wrapping all my lines too...
