  • Getting Mel's V3 up and running

Mel is having difficulty getting his V3 working. With all of you on this forum in addition to help from DFA, I'm hoping we can get him fixed up. Thanks everyone for the help you may provide.

A quote from Mel in another thread, "I can't adjust the run time,I get 50 seconds and I can't change it, the timer wheel doesn't do anything!!!"

You need to make an adjustment to allow you to change the run time. Do this by finding the dip switches on top of the timer card. There will be 4 little white switchers in there that will be labeled 1,2,3,4,. #1 should be off, and 2,3,4 will be on as it came from DFA. You will need to flip #2 to off as well. This changes the timing from 1-60 seconds to 1-60 minutes. Next turn the thumbwheel all the way CCW. Now start testing the run time and move the thumbwheel in extremely small increments until you get close to a minute or whatever you want your setting to be. You do not have to have the vehicle running to do this, only the key on.

Hope this will help. Please post other problems or questions as you get each item addressed. - Patrick

    Mel - From a non-technical standpoint:

    1. What number are you calling?
    2. What e-mail address are you using?

If you've read the thread on the timer card adjustments and it still isn't working, you're going to have to be specific as to what is happening to you.

According to Jason, Mel has made no effort at all to contact him, no emails, phone messages, nothing. Then he gets on here and acts like a horses ass and bashes DFA and there product.
Would Mel like to get on here himself and ask questions constructively? If so he will get plenty of help as you all well know.

Power supply, and the list goes on from there.........

Might I suggest starting at the battery, check big fuse under hood, then follow back to electric circut boards. After Establishing power, check ALL grounds tied into system(including any chaffed wires).there thats done if that didn,t do anything, check fuel pressures(WVO,and #2)if there isn't enough difference between them, your system will not operate correctly. Is your coolant full, and free of any air?Lastly check your fuel filters and fuel lines for any obstructions(PHO will sometimes cause clogs........good luck..greasy
2000 7.3X V3 So much fun,so little time,Support small Oil,burn WVO,Free and greasy down the road I go!!!!!!!!!!completely self sufficient and proud of it. (Wood furnace.....X.......solar pontoon....solarsheat twins this summer.....I don't Know much.......I'm just a hillbilly with too many guns..............

If DFA hasn't heard of this guy... he is either a troll and we ignore him. OR he has a wrong number and e-mail address, and we can just direct him to them.

I have never had a problem getting help from DFA. I have always received a call back and was always amazed at how much time they spent with me and that was back when they were absolutely slammed. In my opinion most issues can be solved here with the help from people on this forum. Lots of well informed helpful people around here. If you are having issues post them up and see if someone can help. If you are a troll like Jack mentioned post some pics cause I wanna see:chuckles:

I'll second what Jamie said - I've always been impressed with DFA's customer service. Especially given the size of their staff and the amount of product they are producing/selling.

As others have said, I'm sure it's just a matter of working through the bugs, and it'll be up and running.

Mel- Just sent you an email with the adjustment instructions. Definately may want to double check email and phone information. I went back and did a search and the last email I received was dated Dec 7 and mostly concerned with not being able to logon onto the forums. Obviously that got resolved. And could not find any phone messages.

For everyone following along, if you don't get a response from us, please keep trying with friendly reminders or follow ups. I get roughly 30-50 emails per day, and 1 email every 6 weeks is pretty easy to overlook among all the rest of the clutter and spam. Not trying to make excuses, just stating it how it is.

                              Best of Luck Mel.

I guess the first time they said you weren't trying to contact them they could have checked their e-mail again... that could have resolved this. On the other hand... you could have re-sent the e-mail.
