  • Leaking Pressure Switch Quick Fix

I must start by saying the pressure switch issuse should be resolved in 2-3 weeks. Jason said he has the fix complete and it will take that long to get it out to everyone.

Here is a quick way to fix your pressure switch if it is leaking and you are loosing pressure.

    Supplies needed:
    1/4" brass pipe plug
    30' 16 guage wire
    20 amp toggle switch
V3 jumper wire plug (or the pressure switch wire plug that came with my V3)

Remove the leaking pressure switch and replace it with the 1/4" brass plug.
If you use the V3 jumper wire plug you get one shot at this so don't mess up. Snip the jumper wire in half and strip the wire (not much room there) and then solder each end of the 30' 16 guage wire to each jumper wire. I clipped the electrical plug off the original pressure switch that came with the V3 (it was not working and is what started all of my issues). If you do this you will use the black and blue wire only. After you solder the wire cover with shrink wire wrap. Plug this harness into the female pressure switch plug at the V3. Then run the wires to the cab. I followed the V3 harness location to the cab. Once the harness is inside the cab place the toggle switch on the end of the two wires. Turn the V3 off (center position) and turn the key on and listen for the diesel pump, it you don't hear it flip the toggle switch. When you hear the pump come on mark that position as "on".

    Operation
Start with the new toggle on and the V3 on "auto". Run the diesel pump until the truck sets to temp. Turn the diesel pump off until you get to your destination and before you turn off the key turn the diesel pump back on with the toggle switch. The diesel pump will purge the system and the truck will turn off.

The pressure switchs only job is to turn the diesel pump on and off - you are now doing it manually with the toggle switch.

This is the best way for me to use my truck on vegi until the pressure switch issue is fixed. I hope this helps. Have a great Thanksgiving!

I was thinking about doing this very thing, your post just clears up how to do it. Thanks

Thanks for sharing that for me. I do have a fix worked worked out since the company's that making our switch can't seem to make the thing to meet advertised specs. Anyone doing this temporary fix though please try not to cut up the old pressure switch. WE NEED THOSE BACK!! At least we can get them swapped out out for new units. The fix for this is that we will be sending out weatherselaed 30A relays that will just plug inbetween the pressure switch and the chassis harness. No cutting or splicicng or running new wiring. All you will have to do is mount the relay itself and connect the ground wire. THis will allow the current for the pump to pass through the relay instead of the pressure switch. But as Triple said it will be a couple weeks before we can get the parts in and assembled.

Ooops! I understood the pressure switch that came with the V3 was shot and could not be used again. Sorry if I mucked that up...it sounded like a good idea at the time. I have the 3 new style pressure switches coming your way.

I must report the Quick Fix is working great...I am running vegi, no vegi oil leaks and no fuel pressure loss. Having the system work on auto would be nice too so let me know when you have the new pressure switches in.

Good info Marty, I appreciate you posting that up. I haven't checked to see if mine is leaking, but so far it seems to be good.
