  • V3 and the EBPV

I had a thought while driving to work (doesn't happen often) the other day, on a cold morning. The EBPV was whilstling away and helping to heat the engine up. I was just wondering if there would be a feasible way to wire the V3 to turn off the EBPV when up to temp?
Mine seems to stay on well after the V3 is up to temp, and there is plenty of heat thru the vents at this point, so I don't see much of a reason to let the EBPV stay on.
What I'm thinking is to have the V3 fire a relay when activated, and the relay would kill power to the EBPV. There's probably other ways of doing it, but does anyone see a problem with it? If you kill power to the EBPV when it's activated, will it stay that way, or will it default back to the "open" position?

    just curious!

The EBPV should deactivate when the brake or throttle are pressed. If not you have another issue to look into.

It does deactivate at part throttle/medium load, but at low load just cruising down a flat road it is on. I think this is how it is supposed to work

Ditto that. Should NOT be on while driving.

It can easily be manually activated though. Many use it as a cheap exhaust brake. Literally as easy as supplying 12v thru a 10 ohm resistor (IIRC?) to the actuator located in turbo pedestal. Would definately speed warm-up at idle, thats what its for!!
