  • Finally Heading HOME

Should be leaving Saturday sometime! YES!!! I miss my babies BADLY. My 'little' one lost his first tooth the other day - they really do grow up fast...

Heading east out of Des Moines on I-80, then south thru Illinois on I-57 and I-24 all the way to Atlanta...

If you're along the way or know someone who is, I'd love to stop by and say HI.

Hey Marv, I might be able to get some more SNOW pics! Y'all see (I know Tayna does!!) this crazy BLIZZARD heading this way! Its supposed to peter out, but its wreaked havoc in ND, SD, NE - thought I saw 3ft of snow reported in WY somewhere. Dude, it is time to go SOUTH!

Awesome man, glad to hear you're taking it to the house! I know I'd be ready if I were you.

So I take it you're from ATL? I always thought you were from out West. I guess I just assumed you were since you came from out that way.

You'll be passing about 45 minutes from my house actually. Right before 24 runs through Chattanooga, you'll pass through South Pittsburgh TN...I'm about 45 mins from there down Hwy 72 that runs into Alabama.

Snap those pics if you get a chance...we don't see much of the white stuff down here. Now that you mention it, I saw some coverage today on the news about the snow out that way. Sounds like a pretty good storm.

    Enjoy that trip home!

Cool. I live a couple hours N. of atlanta up in the mountains.

Wish I had more time, I'd love to take that detour. I get thru there quite a bit though! I'm trying to get on a job in Kansas City in mid-Jan...

If that's the case man, you're probably even closer than I thought you were. I figured you lived down in the city...not outside of it.

We're about 2hrs from Atlanta, Chattanooga,TN, Asheville,NC or Greenville,SC. Right in the middle of nowhere, jus like we like it! In a dry county even!! - BUT, its only 9 miles to the beer store though (closest walmart is 40miles, thank goodness! we've successfully kept'em out so far).

Alright, CHANGED THE ROUTE - I'm gonna go east to Indianapolis, then south thru Louiville, KY, Knoxville then almost Chattanooga before cutting across to home. Stopping in KY to meet a fellow VO'er.

Well Jason we got lucky and kind of missed the blizzard bullet. We did get a couple of inches on top of some nasty sleet so made Jeff's drive to work this morning a little nasty he did wait till the sun came up so he could see if he was going off the road. The wind however was horrible and is blowing in around every dang window of the house.

Western SD got 45.7 inches of snow and up to 12 foot drifts so I am thankful we got just what we got.

I grew up in Michigan and never knew how cold it could get until we moved here.

Jason, you are scaring me, are we neighbors? I am in the N. GA mountains in a dry county with no Walmart in the middle of nowhere. We are however unfortunately getting a walmart first of next year. Are you anywhere near White county?

That'd be the other side of the 'mountain'. Wifey goes to school over in Dahlonaga...

40% of GA counties are still dry! We are the 'buckle' on the bible belt ya know!

I'll send ya a PM, we'll have to get together - maybe someplace that isn't dry. hehehe

I heard wally finally got their way in our county - but don't know when its gonna happen. It really, really sucks...

OK, update: Stopped in Frankfort, KY and met a fellow greaser - another poor sap w/a greasecrap system, this one in a PSD. I will admit it was the cleanest GC install I've seen yet and the owner installed a 30 plate FPHE, so it should actually have enough heat... Anyway, sweet upflow/salt/heat&settle filtering system. I love seeing what people do and this was an example of a very effective (extreme overkill comes to mind!) and well thought out design.

Just had the obligatory road-trip meal at Cracker Barrel and picked up some puzzles for my boys here in Knoxville. I promised'em some fireworks, so one more stop - I'll be in my bed snuggled w/my lovely wife by midnight!

The trip along Ocoee river, where centenial olympics white-water sports were held, woulda made some great pics to share if I had gotten to do it in daylite. Thats just ahead for me and a very beautiful reminder I'm almost HOME. Otherwise, i got a few nice fall pics in KY and got to see the beautiful capital building and grounds thanks to a tour by our new friends in Frankfort!!

                      Thanks for letting me share!!
