  • ut ohhh - check eng lite

It's getting cold here (in the 30's at night). truck runs rough at startup without heater plugged in. Has since I bought it though...

I pulled the following 7 codes:

    P0261 Injector Circuit Low - Cylinder 1
    P0264 Injector Circuit Low - Cylinder 2
    P0267 Injector Circuit Low - Cylinder 3
    P0270 Injector Circuit Low - Cylinder 4
    P0273 Injector Circuit Low - Cylinder 5
    PO279 Injector Circuit Low - Cylinder 7
    P0282 Injector Circuit Low - Cylinder 8

Motor was cold and this was the first start of the day. Been burning diesel for about 50mi...So no veggie was in the engine at time of codes.

Once warmed up it ran fine. Stopped for errands and cleared codes... didn't come back and ran fine still.

I hope it was due to cold weather, but from what I have seen I'm probably looking at FICM and maybe injectors? Gonna stay on diesel and see how this turns out.

Any ideas or experience out there?

Maybe a FICM but don't know whey new injectors would be part of it.
    Are you under warranty still?

      thx Clay

honestly I am just going from posts on other forums from guys that had these codes...

And I'm a pessimist at times LOL. So you dont think this is a sign of injectors going?

No, usually all 8 injectors aren't going to quit at once unless you have gotten ahold of some tanted fuel/vegi like i did before. But when i did that, I got different codes. How is it running?
Are you seeing your crank case oil level rise?

What other forums are you posting up on?

i just posted on PS nation...I agree it seems unlikely all 8 went at once.

It seems to run perfect once warmed up. I will check oil level.

I have the buzz flash. NOT the induction flash. Might try that.

Wilson- I can almost gurantee you that you have an electronic issue, not a mechanical issue. Typically when injectors go bad, especially from bad oil it will cause a mechanical performance issue with the injectors, but will not trip any specific injector codes since electronically they are fine. Plus, with bad injectors your engine will run poorly, especially on diesel. Could be the FICM, IDM, or maybe even a wire grounding out somewhere casusing a short on the ground side of the injector. Since the ground side of the injectors are spliced together, one bad wire could cause a code with all the injectors. Anyway, just a thought.

even without the flash i don't think you should see those codes.
Take it to the dealer if your under warranty still and you might get a new FICM.
Don't advertise your vegistroke system there though.

dropped it off today at DIFEO in NJ. They sponsor a bunch of the sites and I know/trust them from the Cobra community.

Anyway I was BS'ing with the diesel tech and of course he drives a cummins. So wanting to be up front with these guys I told him about my burning WVO and he was really interested, so I mentioned the vegieRAM

Seems like a down to earth Diesel tech and he didn't say I was screwed once I mentioned the V3 so I think I'm in good hands. Anyway here's to a speedy(and cheap I pray) recovery of the X

BTW thanks FN74 that was comforting...

Dunno if 6.0's have the same under valve cover harness design as 7.3, but I got most of those codes (and nearly panicked!) from a loose harness connection under valve cover. I agree w/Jason - not likely a serious problem. Let us know how it turns out!

OK here is an update. DIFEO GUYS ARE TOP NOTCH

Talked with them today and they have almost finished my truck. Basically had 2 bad injectors (electrical issues) I will ask if I can see them and take a pic. Also had lots of carbon coking in the turbo/EGR system. ALL of which is typical for 6.0 and was covered under warranty

The tech did say that when he would switch to veg oil he could hear this miss more pronounced. I think maybe just because the injectors are so much quieter?

He also said he would replace EGR under warranty and do a complete intake cleaning for me... 300 bux but I can see it needed it and have NO complaints. It will be disabled via tune after this so should be good for the long haul.

He is also going to replace the Fuel pump since my press goes so low under load.

So I got about 5kmi on veg and he said he noticed nothing out of the norm on the injectors tips (ie coking)

Great to hear that they are taking care of the issues, and not just doing a blanket blame. And of course that there was nothing out of the norm. Just as I expected, but always nice when that is confirmed.

Good to hear Wilson....glad they're going to take care of you.

Are you going to replace the EGR or block it off while they're working on it?
