What do you guys think of this truck? (89 F-350 PSD)

Over the past few months, I've been keeping my eye out for an older PSD for my Dad to just use around the farm and to pull a trailer occasionally. Came across this one on a local forum yesterday and thought I'd post it up here and see what you guys think.

I don't know much about the older Fords, so any advice you guys can give would be greatly appreciated. Anything I should look out for (engines, trans, problems, common issues, etc) when looking at or test driving one? Any options better than others?

Not really looking to convert it to vegi oil, just need something that has a little more power than his 97 Ranger...lol. He won't be driving it everyday either, so no daily driver duties.

Overall, the truck looks pretty solid. It's got a few areas that show some wear (front bumper, bed - easy bed liner fix, etc), but that would be expected on a truck that is nearly 20 years old.

i wouldn't buy it. Not sure of miles? Or how about maintenance?
I think for that money you could find something a little newer.

Yeah, we both agreed, that we'd have to know how many miles it had on it for sure. Same goes for maintainence.

At the moment, we haven't even called the guy, so nothing serious yet. I'd imagine it'll see some work (around the farm stuff - medium duty at best), but not a whole lot.

I agree, I'd like to find him something newer as well.

With it being an 89 IDI and not a PSD Those 7.3's have some known issues, seeing it was the first year for the 7.3 and it did not come with a turbo. That looks like an ATS turbo kit it could be worth it but you have to spend what you pay for it to get like you want.
I offer them 1500 to start and pay no more than 2000..

Thanks H20, I appreciate the tips. I think it's kind of on the back burner at the moment...Dad is hesitant to spend the cash I believe.

I'd like to find him something newer if possible. Definitely don't want to get him something that'll cost him more time, money and aggravation than it's worth.
