Well, i couldn't stand it anymore, the fuel gauge bouncing back and forth was driving me nutz, so i did something about it.
There has been lots of discussion about the accuracy of these sending units as well as the fact that they fluctuate really bad unless your sitting still.
I took my old tank and pulled the sending unit and swapped it with the one that came in my new tank and i took a pic of the 2 senders.
The one picuted on the left is the Isspro sending unit that came out of my old tank and the one on the right came with the new tank. Notice the Isspro is about an inch longer and it reaches the bottom of my tank better. Also notice the black float on the other sender...it slides up and down on the shaft to read the level and when sloshing occures from turning and such, the float slides up or down rather freely and gives you an eratic reading.
The Isspro on the other hand has the float inside the tube and a very small hole is drilled in the bottom allowing fuel in but not allowing it to drain rapidly when you make a turn, therefor the gauge needle will not move eratically like the other sender when making turns or accelerating, etc. So when you turn and all your fuel goes to the oposite side of the tank, the Isspro is still holding the fuel inside as it does not drain out fast at all. It takes probably a minute for the fuel to all drain out of the tube when its full. So slight sloshing in the tank will be almost completely unnoticed on the gauge inside.
I know Jason is aware of this issue and probably already done something about it but for those who have this old sending unit, this might help clear up why it acts the way it does.
