Found a gold mine...... suppose to be no water but I'll run a few test just to make sure. Very little crap in the oil and so far everything looks good. About 150 gals on this load and about three times this amount available monthly. hehe

I've been nickle and diming my oil from different places for way too long. I'm really liking the idea of one account taking care of my needs.

Rederers hell.... other greasers is what I'm more worried about. lol I know there are a lot of lurkers on these BB's and as competitive as the market is here in my area I just don't care to share much more of the details.

I'm from the old school where a contract is only as good as ones word. If you want to deal with me we shake hands and deal for as long as the two side can mutually meet the others expectations. To that extent I wonder if the guy needs his yard mowed and house painted. LOL

Well that handshake may be weeker than you think...i lost my main source last month to a renderer who flashed $150.00 for a contract signing bonus to the owner....now the owner knows me and knows i spend alot of money in his place but he sold me out anyway.

That is the reason I had considered drafting up a contract for my sources, but have yet to do so. Maybe I need to reconsider that...

yeah it sucks but actually there oil was crap anyway so as soon as my other new sources come online (new resturants opening this month) i was gonna cut em loose.
There oil was literally 3 gallons of chicken fat per cubie with the remainder being vegi oil that was so dark you couldnt see a spoon submerged 1/4" in it.
It was a PITA to deal with when its cold in the winter.

Sounds like you came out better in the end anyways. Got rid of some questionable oil and hassle and will eventually have a better source.

Contracts may work for some but for the most part they're totally uninforceable. Its not like you're going to take someone to court over it. If my source no longer feels like I'm his guy then so be it. I wouldn't force someone to deal with me because of a contract.

Like I said earlier, if someone I'm dealing with doesn't feel I can give him what he wants, be it money or service, then I'm quite ok with them going where they're happy.

I agree about the contract not worth the paper - even more so if no money changes hands. That has been EXACTLY what I tell all my sources (who ALL still have 'contracts' w/the renderer, btw).

Here's the deal, I lost the first source I had the other day. I consider the owner a friend and literally sat with her for 45min and BS'ed a couple weeks ago. She explained how many people coming by to ask her for the oil and she told them all she gave it to me. I thanked her (again) and asked that if a better 'offer' came around, to please give me a chance to match it. Apparently, I did not get that chance...

Bottom line, we have a few thousand $$'s invested in our venture. The renderers have MILLIONS invested and MUST have the WVO to survive. Are they getting tougher, more aggressive and more defensive? HELL YES! At home, they are involving polititians, law makers, regulatory agencies - ANYTHING they can to get their revenue back. It is an ugly world now and 'they' are becoming desperate. Don't get me wrong, I have NO sympathy for them - they were making money hand over fist for MANY, MANY years before 'we' came along.

The other side is ALL my sources are really hurting right now. Groceries are higher than EVER before, same w/utilities, insurance, rent, ALL expenses. Simultaneously, business is SLOW, the economy sucks if ya haven't heard. My places say they are terrified to raise prices to reflect costs because they are afraid to lose any MORE business.
