I Know it is late in the season for boating (in Ohio anyway - I miss Tampa), but it just occurred to me that the V3 is going to be totally underwater when i launch and recover the boat. It's fresh water at least, but I was curious if (and how) this may affect the V3.

    Any thoughts?

You have to back that far into the water to launch your boat?

No problem at all. While not rated for underwater use, I have actually submerged mine in water before with no issues. Everything is watertight and environmentally sealed. May want to check your rear diff breather though!!

That is because your bumper is NINE FEET OFF THE GROUND!!!

OK, maybe I'm jealous - haha.

There are a couple of really shallow ramps around here and my little boat draws like 4 feet of water (cuddy cabin).

Thanks Jason. I kinda figured - given your attention to detail and pride in quality. I just wanted to make sure.

Actually i own a 2wd I am in the process of figuring out how to lower and retain the ability to align it.

But yeah we have steep ramps out here and my boat only draws like maybe 1-1.5. the 18 footer I am swapping the engine into is a bit deeper so I may just get my exhaust a touch moist

Funny, I swear John, that when I responded with the height comment that your avatar pic was Jack_Toepfer's truck image.

lol, I think he was testing it for me Which I still haven't figured out what I'm doing wrong.

The breather should definitely be of concern though... run the hose up under the bed. You do not want that to take in water, or be blocked. Especially on a truck that you tow with.

Good to know this won't affect the V3. My only concern was the cold water on a fully heated module....generally that doesn't mix well. But, I guess if you're not doing that repeatedly, it would be okay.

Have a welder make a sliding tongue with a pin. When you get to the ramp, chock the tires pull the pin drive foward, and once extended put the pin in, remove the chocks and launch. Do the reverse after pulling the boat out.
Our ramps are ok over here, but we don't want to get our feet (Wheels) wet. Nothing worse than getting salt water anywhere under my truck, or on my V2!
